These are the rules we hold ourselves to. They exist so you can tell the difference between what we know, what we’ve read, and what we’re guessing.
Recommendations solve real fit problems
Every guide starts from a problem someone actually has — a chair that won’t take the load, an inseam that doesn’t exist at normal retailers. We don’t publish roundups for categories where we have nothing useful to add.
We distinguish testing from research
Firsthand testing is labelled as firsthand testing, with what we did and how long for. Everything else is research: specifications, documentation, warranty terms and owner reports, read carefully and attributed. We do not claim to have tested something we have not tested.
Specifications are cited and dated
Weight ratings and dimensions come from the manufacturer and carry the date we checked them, because manufacturers revise them quietly. Where a figure is ambiguous, inconsistent across a brand’s own pages, or missing, we say so rather than picking the flattering one.
We state limitations
Warranty exclusions, static versus dynamic load ratings, which component a rating covers, and assembly requirements that change the outcome. We use language like "rated to", "according to the manufacturer" and "may suit". We never present a product as guaranteed safe at a given weight, and nothing here is medical, structural or safety advice.
We correct errors
When we get something wrong we fix it and note what changed and when. Guides carry a visible last-updated date so you know how fresh the figures are.
No shaming, no fear, no weight-loss marketing
We write in plain, body-neutral language. We don’t sell urgency, we don’t imply your body is a problem, and we don’t accept weight-loss advertising.
Affiliate relationships are transparent
Commission never determines what makes a list or what order it’s in. Affiliate links are disclosed at the top of any page that contains them. See the affiliate disclosure for the detail.
AI use
We use AI tools for research assistance, drafting and editing. Every published guide is reviewed by a person, and every specification is verified against a primary source before publication. We don’t publish unreviewed machine-generated content.
