About

Rated To is an independent publication for big and tall people. We write about the furniture, beds, clothing and gear that are supposed to fit — and we check the numbers before we recommend anything.

Why this site exists

If you’re over about 6’3" or 250 lb, you already know the pattern. The product arrives. It’s technically the right item. It’s also two inches too short, or rated for a weight that turns out to be a formality, or it fails in eight months in a way that’s somehow not covered.

Most review sites are written for an average body, so the one specification that decides whether something works for you is the one they leave out. We put it first.

What we do differently

  • We lead with the numbers. Weight capacity, seat width, inseam, length, headroom — cited to the manufacturer and dated, so you can check whether it has changed.
  • We separate testing from research. If we have used something, we say what we did and for how long. If we have only read the spec sheet, we say that instead of implying otherwise.
  • We read the fine print. Warranty exclusions, static versus dynamic ratings, and which component the rating actually covers.
  • We say who should skip it. Most guides only tell you what to buy. Knowing what not to buy is usually worth more.

What we won’t do

No body shaming. No weight-loss products, and no framing your body as a problem to be solved. You’re here to buy a chair, not to be sold a lifestyle.

We also won’t claim a product is safe at a given weight. We’ll tell you what the manufacturer rates it for, and where that figure gets narrower on closer reading. The decision is yours to make with better information than you had.

Who writes this

Placeholder — replace with the founder bio before launch. Include height/size context if you’re comfortable sharing it, how long you’ve been buying in this category, and anything you’ve tested at length. Do not list credentials, labs or staff that don’t exist.

Corrections

Specifications change and we get things wrong. If something here is inaccurate, tell us and we’ll fix it and note the change. Our full standards are in the editorial policy.
